Magnificent engraving of the sea battle of the combined Anglo-Dutch fleets under Russel and Almonde on the French under Tourville at the Battle of Cape la Hogue, 29 May - 3 June 1692. Depicted is the moment Tourville steps from one boat into another and is seized by an Englishman whose hand he will cut off with his sword. With at the right and central French ships. Funeral procession of Wolter Jan Gerrit baron Bentinck (1745-1781), rear-admiral of Holland and West-Friesland, died after serious injuries during the naval battle of the Dogger Bank. Magnificent image of the procession on the Kloveniersburgwal in Amsterdam, going to the Nieuwe Kerk. Depicting the canal houses with on the right the Oudemanhuispoort, and on the left the Nieuwe Doelenstraat. In front the canal with several vessels with spectators.With circumstantial description of the participants and the route. The naval Battle of the Dogger Bank took place on 5 August 1781 during the Fourth Anglo-Dutch War, part of the American War of Independence, in the North Sea. It was a bloody encounter between a British squadron under Vice Admiral Sir Hyde Parker, 5th Baronet and a Dutch squadron under Vice Admiral Johan Zoutman, both of which were escorting convoys. - Excellent condition.Muller, Historieplaten, 4463; Atlas van Stolk 4401. Nonica Bolderdijk was born in Zaire 25 November 1924. She was a pupil of the Academy of Arts in The Hague and attended the 'Ecole des Beaux Arts' in Paris. Bouchain is a commune in northern France. It lies halfway between Cambrai and Valenciennes.The Siege of Bouchain (9 August - 12 September 1711) was a siege of the War of the Spanish Succession, and the last major victory of John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough. Marlborough broke through the French defensive lines and took Bouchain after a siege of 34 days. Its capture left Cambrai the only French-held fortress between the allied army and Paris. - Fine. Van Braam (1737-1803) wrecked with the frigate Huis in het Bosch, captain H.C. Steenis, on the Moorish coast on December 1751. After spending almost a year in slavery, he returned to Holland. He became a servant of the Dutch East India Company during the years 1764-1795. Ca. 39 x 46 cm. From: Johann Baptist von Spix & Karl Friedrich Philipp von Martius Atlas zur Reise in Brasilien. - The atlas appeared in instalments and is rarely found complete. From 1817 to 1820 the botanist and traveller Martius (1794-1868) travelled in Brazil together with the zoologist Spix (1781-1826). Their journey was a scientific expedition, financed by king Maximillian Joseph I of Bavaria. - Famous slavery print of the Brazilian diamond mines. - Unobtrusive dampstain in margin left lower corner mainly to be seen on verso, few spots in margin, otherwise a very fine copy. CAPE OF GOOD HOPE. Le Cape de Bonne Esperance. Paris, Daumont, (ca. 1780).Contemporary handcoloured perspective view (vue d'optique or Guckkastenbild) depicting the Cape of Good Hope by Jan van Ryne. Ca. 25,5 x 41 cm. Fine optical view by the Dutch artist Jan van Ryne (ca. 1712-1760), he was believed to have worked in London about 1752-54, when he made an interesting engraving of Table Mountain and Bay, first published by Robert Sayer of Fleet St., London, in 1754, and provided the basis from which other prints were made, one being engraved in reverse in Paris (Gordon-Brown, Pictorial Africana, p.234). We offer the French version of this very attractive view of the Cape of Good Hope from the sea showing the Table Mountain and the company's buildings and many ships in Table Bay. It was an obligatory stop for all European ships going to the Indian Ocean or returning from there to Europe. The illustrious family Rancys produced a show called ''Féerie à Sumatra” and 15 years later they took up this magical name by offering in 1968 a “Féerie au Nepal”. This production, quite similar to the previous one, included seventeen paintings, one hundred and twenty costumes, sets by Simonne L'Hermitte. Forty artists including Sabine Rancy "The Princess Shera", Catherine Allarion "The Goddess Ellora", Catherine Muller "The White Slave", Jeannine Fratellini "The Goddess Poona", Dany Renz "The Prince of Nepal", Fernand Donnet "The Maharajah of Assam" and Joe Bill "The Grand Vizier Zadji" were in this review with the other artists of program 68. - Small tear at top, otherwise fine.
